MollyMolly is a female Umbrella Cockatoo who hatched in 2009 at a breeder who kept her in inadequate housing. Her beak was caught on poor fencing and she suffered a broken jaw and a torn mandible.

Due to the fact that the root of her beak was damaged, she takes on a Pelican appearance. She has no real torque that she can use to crack nuts or even some seeds. What for most birds would be adversity Molly turned to her advantage. Since coming to our facility Molly has been coddled and held.

Her trusting nature and gentle beak has given her the title as Therapy Bird for the Cougar Springs Assisted Living Center in Redmond, Oregon. She goes to work with her Foster mom, Candy, who is the Administrative Assistant at Cougar Springs. At 9 AM Molly starts with exercise, then on to lunch where she is fed her favorite, Mashed Potatoes and Chicken. After lunch she is on to finish her rounds and finish her day. The residents at Cougar Springs know she will be back tomorrow. Molly loves what she does!
